STARTING SOLIDS THE GOURMET BABY WAY

Starting Solids Shouldn't Feel Like Guesswork

Conflicting advice. Judgement either way you feed your baby. Pouches with more marketing than nutrition. Everyone talks about it - nobody fixes it.

We're not here with another opinion. We're here to help parents introduce real, fresh food to babies not a nutrient-dense shelf stable system built from a packet in the pantry, but food the way it exists before it's ever processed into one. Packaged options have their place, but fresh is always best.

We're here with the recipes that already fed thousands of Kiwi babies.

Here's the Secret Ingredient!

The Gourmet Baby Kitchen Hub isn't built on guesswork or trends. It's built on the exact recipes from the original Ultimate Solids Starter Pack - the product that made Gourmet Baby an NZ Food Awards Finalist in 2018 and an OHbaby! Awards Silver Winner in 2022.

Follow the method exactly, and it works - because it already has, thousands of times over. This isn't a rough guide to riff on; it's a precise system, tested and refined until it was right.

Babies love the Ultimate Solids Starter Pack recipes.

Packaging of Gourmet Baby ultimate solids starter pack with a white background, purple text, and images of pureed baby food in bowls, slices of melon, and a raspberry, along with small pieces of meat and vegetables. Contains labels for different flavors and age indication of 4-6+ months.

How Gourmet Baby Kitchen works

  • Babys first food

    1. Be ready before baby is

The Starting Solids Hub gives you the readiness know-how, allergen guidance and mealtime confidence to start strong - plus a Just Starter Pack of five fresh prepped ingredients for starting solids delivered to your door.

  • 2. Cook with confidence

Move into the Kitchen Hub for the exact recipes behind the original Ultimate Solids Starter Pack - taught video by video, from first purées through iron-rich mains and fruitblocks. If you've progressed from the Starting Solids Hub or you're joining straight in, you're in the right place.

  • Diced up fresh produce, fruits, veges, herbs and meat

    3. Make it your way

Prep your own fresh produce and ingredients to the weights each recipe calls for or skip the peeling and weighing altogether with ready-prepped packs - already portioned to the exact amounts you need!

Ordered through our delivery partner TUM.

  • 4. Watch baby devour it

Now get into it, feed your baby the purée you just made, and watch them devour it. Don't forget to taste it yourself too. Share the moment, whether it's your baby devouring it or you proudly holding your homemade batch — tag us @GBK_GourmetBabyKitchen

WHAT SETS US APART

We Prep It. You Make It.

Every Gourmet Baby Kitchen Meal Pack by TUM is washed, peeled, diced, freshly packed and ready to cook, benchmarked against Suzy's own food standards and specifications. Rosemary must always be fresh, never dried, dried rosemary turns into tiny woody needles that never soften, no matter how long you cook it. Not something you want anywhere near a baby's mouth.

Think less "cook from scratch," more meal-kit simple: everything you need, portioned and ready, with the recipe and video tutorial right there so there's nothing to figure out.

That matters for two reasons. As your baby grows, texture needs to change — purées to start, mashed the next, finger foods in the mix — pre-made frozen meals can't adjust to that, but you can. Every baby also has foods they love and foods they flat-out refuse; when you're the one combining the ingredients, you can swap one out or add a new flavour without wasting a whole batch.

Not a confident cook? That's exactly who this is built for. You're not creating recipes from scratch — you're following a simple, tested method with the hard part already done for you. Now don't panic - I've heard the doubt creep into your mind "make my own purées?" Yes, that's exactly right. But you're doing this under the GBK method, and we've got this, mama. Trust me, you've got this too.

Prefer to source your own ingredients? That works too, the recipes stand on their own, with or without the prepped packs. Just make sure your prepped weights match my prepped weights when you begin, the yield must be the same.
